Historically, in pasture management, it has been difficult to use data-based approaches to make decisions given the lack of automated data capture in farm machinery.

Using FluroSense Insights in conjunction with remote sensing, producers are now able to keep track of pasture performance in real-time alongside monitoring their broadacre crops. FluroSense Insights allow you to:

Combined, these resources use remotely sensed biomass scores and crop growth status for each paddock to make data-driven and timely herd rotation decisions.

The FluroSense Crop Performance Report highlights the paddocks that need the most attention and the best performers so their management practice can be noted. Also, it benchmarks crop performance per variety and crop type on a field-by-field basis.
The Crop Performance Dashboard shows fields classified based on the crop growth rate. Fields marked in green saw an increase in biomass, while fields colored in brown had a decrease in biomass in the past week. Coupled with biomass scores, the growth rates are an excellent indicator of the harvest readiness of crops or grazing readiness of pastures.

Another tool that can be used is the FluroSense Zoning Tool, which allows an extrapolation of suggested sampling results to build field-specific application maps. This is especially useful in helping to identify and optimize sampling locations.

This application map was created using the CCCI layer, and FluroSense suggested sampling points in different areas of the field. Ultimately, it shows high variability due to a waterlogged area on the north side of the field.
